This year’s BBOB charity is MPD Voice. This is a National charity based at Guy’s & St Thomas Hospital, London, whose role is to raise awareness, offer support and fund research into myeloproliferative disorders (you can see why it’s abbreviated to MPD).
We start on 15 June 2011 at Lochfinnan then cycle 60 miles to Oban. On day two we are getting a “rib” to Iona and cycling the 100 yards of road. We then catch the ferry to Fionnphort, Mull. From there we will cycle 67 miles to Tobermory/Balamory. On day three we catch the ferry out of Tobermory to Kilchoan and then cycle, via a 9 hole game of golf, to Mallaig, covering 58 miles.
Day four sees us on the ferry from Mallaig to Skye where we will cycle to Portree via Rasaay (obviously) covering 68 miles. On our final day we go right round Skye and finish in Mallaig some 77 miles later – ouch!

update:
Well we all completed our challenge and not only did we raise close to £5,000 we made new friends along the way and as usual we were all touch by the generosity displayed by everyone we met – apart from the bus driver on Skye who tried to run us off the road. insert expletive!
Our recommendations:
We hired a rib from Oban to Iona using Coastal Connections. The boys managed to squeeze ten bikes on!
Day two we were on Mull and what a glorious day it was. I’d been to Mull twice before and never saw the mountains due to the torrential rain. So to see the island bathed in sunshine was a treat. We cycled around 65 miles on Mull stopping for lunch at The Boat House on Ulva.
On day three we stopped off at Nadurra Visitors Centre on Ardnamurchan for some lovely home baking and copious amounts of tea.
We also stopped off at the Lochailort Inn where we all dried off in front of a roaring fire, yes in June, and had a delicious lunch.
